The Sheet Metal Fabrication Process
Sheet metal fabrication is the process of manufacturing a piece of sheet metal into a desired part through material removal or modification like forming or bending. Many of our services, including laser cutting, forming, punching, welding, and powder coating, are leveraged during the sheet metal fabrication process.
Sheet metal, the workpiece for these types of projects, is a common form of raw material and comes in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. Sheet thickness is not clearly defined, but it often falls between 0.006 and 0.25 inches thick. Thinner metals are considered “foil,” where thicker material is called “plate”.
