A CNC machine (computer numerical control) lends consistency, precision and repeatability to projects from simple to complex, and prototype creation to short- and medium-sized runs.

Alloy Fabricators can mill both metals and plastics using CNC technology, including aluminum.

Aluminum is lightweight, especially compared to stainless steel, is non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant, malleable and durable. Aluminum CNC milling is among the more popular services we offer to customers and one of the many reasons we recently added an 8,000-square foot expansion dedicated to CNC work.

PROCESS OF ELIMINATION

CNC milling is a process similar to that of a sculptor facing a block of marble—it starts with a blank or piece of metal and then cuts part away to create the desired shape or form. In this computer-guided system, the operator programs in the specifications for any given project (including aluminum CNC milling) by entering a set of code. This code determines the length, depth and width of the cuts, performing the task with extreme precision, with tight tolerances of within ±0.001. ”

Among the new equipment obtained by Alloy Fabricators, our Haas CNC VF-4 vertical mill offers a four-axis turning with high speed spindles, lending 360-degree capability for parts from simple to complex. Computer controls and programming make precise replication fast and easy for small to medium runs of identical parts.

In addition, the Haas CNC machines at Alloy Fabricators include:

  • VF-2SS is a high-performance Super-Speed vertical machining center that offers quick tool changes for reduced cycle times.
  • The ST-30Y lathe features a live Y-axis tooling and a bar feeder, for milling, drilling and tapping, featuring rigidity and high thermal stability for greater precision and accuracy regardless of run size.

These three machines – machining center, vertical mill and a lathe from Haas Automation – support more precise machine capabilities, greater quality control and faster turnaround times. Find more detailed specifications related to the new equipment.

FORM AND FUNCTION

The CNC machining process is precise for exact replication of a lot or run of identical parts. The computer-guided and programmed machine tools move simultaneously upon their axes to create three-dimensional shapes, capable of creating a part with a high degree of complexity not possible with manual tooling and in a short period of time.

Functionally, CNC metal machining is capable of forming parts made of a variety of metals or hard plastics. We specialize in CNC machining for stainless steel, aluminum, other select metals and plastics, with stainless steel and aluminum among the most popular metal choices for their given performance characteristics.
